Abstract

Nowadays, within the Air Force, pilots train for instrumental flying in adverse weather conditions. The instrument flight program developed by the US military over 30 years ago, from the end of World War I to the late 1940s, is still in use today in many pilot training programs around the world. During the development of this program, the military was at the forefront of technological development.
