Abstract

The absorber is a key component of an absorption system, and its efficiency affects the performance of the overall system. This study summarizes and analyzes the development status of using additives to enhance heat and mass transfer. To address the problem of the low heat and mass transfer efficiency of absorbers, many researchers usually add additives to the circulation system of absorption chiller to enhance the heat and mass transfer processes. In this paper, the experimental studies on adding surfactants, nanoparticles, and salt compounds to traditional working fluid pairs are reviewed. Numerous research results show that the heat and mass transfer coefficients are enhanced after adding additives, and the cooling capacity is improved. Suggestions for enhancing heat and mass transfer in the absorption process are also presented in this paper.
