Abstract

Background: A paucity of data exists on best practices for peri- and post-operative care for children born with distal vaginal atresia. Clinical practice for antibiotic use and dilator or stent therapy varies widely. There is no clearly defined ACOG recommendation for antibiotic prophylaxis for pull-through vaginoplasty, although one preoperative dose of cefazolin is generally recommended for clean-contaminated vaginal procedures. This multi-site NASPAG FRC study examines rates of post-operative stenosis and infection.
