Abstract

This article has been retracted at the request of the Editors in Chief, as it is a duplicate of an article that has already been published as ‘‘Approximation of solutions of generalized equations of Hammerstein type’’, in Computers & Mathematics with Applications, Volume 63, 2012, no. 5, pp. 966–974. Both the papers have the exact same title. Upon closer examination, it was found that the article, presents only a slight and straightforward generalization of the previously published Computers &Mathematics with Applications article. It is further noted that the submission to Nonlinear Analysis (in January 2012) follows the publication to the other journal (in March 2012). One of the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that the work described in their submission, has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis or as an electronic preprint, see http://www.elsevier.com/postingpolicy), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere including electronically in the same form, in English or in any other language, without thewritten consent of the copyright-holder. As such this article represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process.
