Abstract

We, the Editor and Publisher of Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, have retracted the following article: Mohamed Kandil, Zakaria Sanad, Tarek Sayyed & Hamed Ellakwa (2017) Body mass index is linked to cervical length and duration of pregnancy: An observational study in low risk pregnancy, Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 37:1, 33–37, DOI: 10.1080/01443615.2016.1205555 Since publication, significant concerns have been raised about the integrity of the data and reported results, and whether the study complied with the journal’s editorial policies on clinical trial research. When approached for an explanation, the authors provided responses, but they were unable to provide their raw data for review or evidence to confirm the study complied with the journal’s policies. As verifying the validity of published work is core to the integrity of the scholarly record, we are therefore retracting the article. The authors have been informed, and they do not agree with the retraction. We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and COPE guidelines. The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
