Standpoint epistemology, as articulated by Sandra Harding, challenges the claim of neutrality in modern science by situating knowledge within social relations of power. This framework emphasizes the epistemic significance of marginalized social positions as critical sites for revealing structural bias in knowledge production. Despite its extensive discussion within secular feminist theory and philosophy of science, standpoint epistemology has rarely been examined through Islamic epistemological frameworks. This study aims to critically examine Sandra Harding’s standpoint epistemology through the perspective of Islamic epistemology grounded in the principle of tawhid (divine unity). The research employs qualitative conceptual analysis using philosophical-critical methods, examining Harding’s major works in dialogue with the epistemological thought of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas to assess their underlying assumptions, limitations, and epistemic implications. This article makes a conceptual contribution by proposing a tawhid-based reformulation of knowledge that offers a theologically grounded alternative to relativistic epistemic frameworks while retaining the ethical and critical insights of feminist standpoint epistemology.

he rejection of by some feminists has been core to the development of alternative epistemologies, whether standpoint or postmodern (Harding 1986, 1991; Nicholson 1990), despite the argument of others (e.g., Keller 1992). Yet this rejection has often been based on caricatured or outdated conceptions of science. The insights of modern sociology and philosophy of science' need to be integrated in order to revise such conceptions of knowledge, though this is not to argue that there are not many problems relating to the gendering of scientific knowledge.2 Feminist analysis should be bolder about its truth claims, rather than retreating into a defensive stance about partial knowledges. Science is not a mirror of nature (Rorty 1980), but neither is it a mirror of culture. Science is poised both in between and as a part of each of these, and there is a need for concepts and metaphors that avoid the temptation of reductionism in either direction. This article is an attempt to contribute to such an analysis. Signs (1997) has rightly reopened the debate about standpoint epistemology, and this article seeks to build on Susan Hekman's (1997) critique while offering an alternative resolution to the dilemmas she exposes. The defensive posture of feminist analysis initially adopted in the 1970s and 1980s has become embedded within epistemologies that emphasize the difference between the knowledge derived from women's experiences and those of men, and, later, also the knowledges among women from different cultures. Standpoint epistemology is based on the presumption of a chasm between the knowledge of the oppressed and that of the oppressor, in which the oppressed develop their own practices in order to develop better knowledge. Philosophy of science is a reflective inquiry into the nature, sources, methods, and purposes of knowledge, while developments in modern science reveal fundamental differences between Western and Islamic traditions in their views of knowledge. This article aims to examine the concept of philosophy of science from Islamic and Western perspectives and to analyse their similarities and differences. The study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach through critical review of relevant works on philosophy of science, Islamic epistemology, and the modern Western intellectual tradition. The findings show that modern Western philosophy of science tends to be grounded in rationalism, empiricism, and secularism, thereby separating knowledge from spiritual values and rendering it autonomous from revelation. In contrast, Islamic philosophy of science is founded on the principle of tauhid, which integrates revelation, reason, and moral values into a single, hierarchical, and mutually complementary unity. The article concludes that integrating the paradigm of Islamic philosophy of science offers an important alternative for responding to the value crisis in the development of modern science, while also opening space for the construction of knowledge that is more ethical, transcendental, and oriented toward human well-being.

SOME CRITICAL POINTS IN THE METHODS AND PHILOSPHY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES

Nowadays, it seems that there are not enough studies on the philosophy and methods of physical sciences that would be attractive to the researchers in the field. However, many revolutionary inventions have come from the mechanism of the philosophical thought of the physical sciences. This is, of course, a vast and very interesting topic that must be investigated in detail by philosophers, scientists or philosopher-scientists such as physicists. In order to do justice to it one has to write a book. For example, you may think mainly of the historical aspect that is how methodology and philosophy of physical sciences developed in the last century and how it influenced the development in science. One may also think of the topic of methodology and philosophy in physics treated by a philosopher, a scientist or a physicist, which would mean from quite different points of view. Another important question of this topic that needs to be answered is the question of what can be done in methods and philosophy of physical sciences in the near future. The aim of the study: For a quarter of a century I have been interested in “ Philosophy of Sciences “ as a hobby and from time to time have given lectures on this subject to students of physics as an elective course, in which one of the main subjects of the course was “Philosophy and Methods of the Physical Sciences ,“ I would like to share my experience , knowledge and research results on these topics with distinguished science readers of public and to acquaint philosophical and methodological ideas that play an active role in the development process of physical sciences for those who want to do research to shed some light on this issue. In this direction, science of physics, relation between physics and philosophy-science, the philosophy and methods of classical physical sciences, philosophical comments of quantum theory, the methods and philosophy of modern physical sciences, Philosophy of Physics and the Methodology, how a scientist works to get a better understanding of the laws of nature, success through method, Einstein's methodology, impact of relativity, the conflicting views in the progress of modern physics, and the strategy adopted in the study of physical systems, have been examined.

Epistemological and Ethical Philosophy of Mathematics In 21st Century Mathematics Learning Practices

21st century mathematics education has made use of science and technology while maintaining the philosophy of mathematics from an ethical and epistemological standpoint. This paper examines the goals of the philosophy of mathematics from an epistemological and ethical perspective. It also investigates the relationship between these perspectives and the practice of studying mathematics in the twenty-first century. This article was written using the Publish or Perish software and a systematic literature review approach. 41 initial articles were found by inputting keywords. Following review, fifteen articles were found to be in agreement. This study reveals that the goal of mathematics philosophy is to understand truth, meaning, certainty, and the nature and sources of mathematical knowledge, as well as how to interpret mathematics, from an epistemological perspective. Analyze and reflect on the ethical implications of mathematical practices. Its epistemological application in 21st century learning practices guides the way concepts are positioned, logical arguments are made, and mathematical problems are solved. Next, ethical considerations include maintaining student privacy, establishing learning agreements in every class, and avoiding creating group distinctions. by utilizing an interactive, student-centered learning paradigm like PBL, inquiry, contextual learning, use of technology, STEM, and others. Such behaviors will subsequently cultivate the values of critical, communicative, creative, and cooperative character. Therefore, we must uphold the fundamentals of learning in the 21st century, both in terms of epistemology and ethics.

This study explores how Islamic epistemology can address the fragmentation and ethical challenges in contemporary Muslim societies. By emphasizing the integration of divine revelation and human reason, Islamic epistemology offers a balanced framework for intellectual and spiritual development. The core principles of mīzān (balance), maqāṣid al-sharīʿah (higher objectives of Islamic law), and tawhid (divine unity) form the foundation of Islamic ethical thought, guiding individuals and communities toward social harmony and moral responsibility. The study highlights how these principles can be applied to modern issues such as social justice, environmental sustainability, and the erosion of communal values. Through a comparative analysis, the research contrasts Islamic epistemology with Western ethical frameworks that prioritize individual autonomy, showing how Islamic approaches promote communal accountability and social cohesion. Empirical research, including surveys and interviews, reveals that Muslim communities view Islamic epistemology as a valuable tool for addressing contemporary ethical dilemmas and fostering unity. By revisiting classical Islamic scholars like Al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, and Al-Ghazali, the study provides a theoretical foundation for applying Islamic knowledge to modern day challenges. Additionally, the research examines how the principles of moral agency and personal responsibility in Islamic thought offer solutions to the weakening of ethical conduct in contemporary societies. The study concludes by recommending further research into the practical implementation of Islamic epistemological concepts in governance, education, and social structures to promote ethical and social reform. Integrating Islamic wisdom with modern ethical challenges can offer significant contributions to fostering a more harmonious, just, and ethically responsible global society.

GLOCALIZATION AND ITS IMPACT: A CONCEPTUAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE AND HUMAN RIGHTS

The accelerating entanglement of global and local dynamics has generated pressing challenges for both the philosophy of science and human rights. Universalist frameworks in each field aspire to global applicability, yet often falter when confronted with culturally embedded practices and contested realities. This paper explores whether methodological tools from the philosophy of science can enhance the justification and application of human rights within glocalized contexts. Building on conceptual insights from positivism, interpretivism, and critical realism, the study develops novel analytical indices – the Deliberative Diversity Score, Inclusion and Representation Ratio, Transformative Policy Index, and Deliberative-Contextual Integration – to operationalize glocalization in human rights research. These indices were applied to three illustrative domains: environmental justice, digital rights, and healthcare access. The results demonstrate uneven patterns of glocal integration. Environmental justice revealed strong global commitments but weak local representation, digital rights showed structural deliberation alongside significant exclusion of marginalized groups, and healthcare governance displayed comparatively higher levels of inclusion and transformative policy adoption. The findings confirm that philosophy of science tools can enhance human rights analysis by testing empirical claims (falsifiability), amplifying marginalized perspectives (standpoint epistemology), and revealing structural causes of exclusion (critical realism). The scientific novelty of the study lies in embedding glocalization within a measurable methodological framework, while its practical significance rests in providing policymakers and advocates with tools for culturally responsive, evidence- based rights evaluation. The research concludes that glocalization constitutes not a superficial compromise but a methodological necessity for strengthening universal rights in diverse cultural settings.

Revisiting Al-Faruqi’s Islamization of Knowledge: A Hermeneutic and Decolonial Analysis for Contemporary Epistemic Reform

This study critically examines Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi's (1921-1986) Islamization of Knowledge (IOK) project, focusing on its philosophical consistency, real-world application, and connection to global decolonial ideas. Through a tripartite methodological approach combining critical hermeneutics, comparative epistemology, and empirical case studies, we assess the enduring contributions and limitations of Al-Faruqi's framework. Our textual analysis reveals that while the Tawhidic (Divine Unity) paradigm effectively challenges Western epistemological fragmentation, its potential for epistemic essentialism requires mitigation through greater contextual flexibility. Comparative examination demonstrates that IOK's five-step methodology, though theoretically robust for traditional disciplines, demands significant adaptation for contemporary challenges in STEM fields and digital humanities. Empirical investigations at institutions implementing IOK principles (including IIIT and IIUM) further identify a critical gap in addressing intra-Muslim power asymmetries, particularly regarding gender and cultural diversity in knowledge production. Building on these findings, the study proposes an enhanced "decolonial-Islamic" framework that: (1) maintains Al-Faruqi's core metaphysical foundations while incorporating pluralistic epistemological approaches; (2) develops discipline-specific adaptation protocols for emerging academic fields; and (3) integrates institutional assessment tools to evaluate Islamization outcomes. These contributions advance three key academic discourses: Islamic epistemology's engagement with decolonial theory, practical models for educational reform in Muslim-majority societies, and interdisciplinary approaches to knowledge decolonization. The paper concludes with policy recommendations for implementing this refined framework in contemporary Islamic higher education contexts.
