Abstract
In an experimental situation in which leg extension results in electric shock, intact locusts learn to avoid the shock by maintaining leg flexion. This associative change in behaviour can be retained for about 3 days by both hoppers and adults. Moreover, the associative learning acquired in hoppers survives metamorphosis into the adult stage.
