Abstract

As part of a multicenter, open-label, single-arm study of opioid conversion, a take-home survey designed to assess lifetime misuse, abuse, and diversion (MAD) of prescription opioid medications (POM) among chronic pain patients was administered. The study was conducted under IRB approval and a Certificate of Confidentiality to protect sensitive patient information. The take-home MAD survey was provided at baseline and mailed to a third party. The MAD survey included 11 main questions on patient fears of addiction, dependence, and MAD with POM, particularly tampering.
