Abstract

Long-term results of permanent and adjustable De Vega annuloplastyReconstructive surgery of the tricuspid valve is, in most cases, an annuloplasty. The current trend, especially in developed countries, is the use of prosthetic rings to treat tricuspid regurgitation. However, there are still many centers that routinely use the technique of semicircular suture annuloplasty described by Norberto Gonzalez De Vega. The aim of this work is to analyze the long-term results of De Vega annuloplasty and compare these results with commercial prosthetic rings. We carried out a literature review of the most recent and relevant publications. series with long follow-up reported absence of re-intervention on the tricuspid valve that varies between 77 and 91% at 15 years using modified semicircular suture annuloplasty, thus indicating that this is a valid technique for the treatment of functional tricuspid regurgitation. these results seem to improve in the short term with the use of ``remodeling" prosthetic rings.
