Abstract

Discrepancies between the mean force potential for the Ca2+–Cl− ion pair in water obtained by Dang and Smith and in our paper [Guàrdia et al., J. Chem. Phys. 99, 4229 (1993)] are attributed to the different interatomic potentials used for its calculation. Despite their differences both interaction models reproduce the experimental structural data now available.
