Abstract

An examination of the phonemic error patterns made by particular subjects in response to speech audiometry is capable of providing useful information on the way in which that subject categorises speech elements. Since most responses are in the form of real words extracted from the subject's lexicon it is essential to estimate the possibility of occurrence of particular phonemic errors before the overall error patterns can be interpreted in a meaningful way. A set of such possibility matrices for the Boothroyd (AB) word lists is presented.
