Abstract
The objectives of this research were to determine the effect of chemical and biological fertilizers on the growth of red Jabon (Anthocephalus macrophyllus (Roxb.) Havil) seedlings in the nursery. This research was conducted at the Tembal Lestari nursery, South Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. The results of this research showed that giving a combination of biological and chemical fertilizers has a significant effect on the increase in height, diameter, and number of leaves of red jabon seedlings

Summary
Kebutuhan kayu dewasa ini semakin meningkat, baik kayu untuk pertukangan maupun untuk bahan baku industri lainnya (Prananda et al 2014). Salah satu upaya untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kayu yang meningkat adalah pebangunan HTI (Hutan Tanaman Industri) dan HTR (Hutan Tanaman Rakyat). Dalam memproses bibit jabon merah di persemaian untuk siap tanam ada beberapa pemeliharaan yang perlu dilakukan, diantaranya adalah pemupukan. (2013) juga melaporkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan bibit adalah kesuburan media, penggunaan pupuk dan cara penanaman. Penggunaan pupuk kimia yang berlebihan dan terus menerus tanpa diimbangi dengan pupuk hayati akan berakibat merubah struktur kimiawi maupun biologis tanah. Studi pemupukan pada bibit jabon merah yang sudah ada lebih banyak mengkaji respon pertumbuhan bibit pada pemberian pupuk kimia. Misalnya yang dilaporkan oleh Luhulima et al (2017), pemupukan NPK dengan beberapa dosis dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan bibit jabon merah. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan studi lanjut tentang penggunaan kombinasi pupuk kimia dan hayati pada pertumbuhan bibit jabon merah
