Abstract
Using a molecular model, we have calculated the resonant mode frequencies of tetragonal [110] and rhombic [100] aligned Rb+ pairs in KI. The frequencies are found to lie both in the phonon gap and in the acoustic continuum. The results are discussed in relation to the recent work of de Jong et al. on this system.
