Abstract

Abstract A population of European red mite from an apple orchard, and two-spotted mite from a blackcurrant crop, have developed low levels of resistance to propargite (Omite® -30W) after repeated use of this chemical. Laboratory toxicity tests showed a 5–7 times difference in median lethal concentrations (LC50 values) between susceptible and resistant populations. These low levels of resistance rendered control measures at the recommended field rate (0.06% active ingredient) ineffective.
