Abstract
This article addresses the electrical safety of photovoltaic (PV) systems. It points out the different physical properties of PV generators in comparison to conventional power sources like the public grid. It is written with a strong reference to the international standard IEC 364, ‘Electrical Installations of Buildings’ (IEC = International Electrotechnical Commission) and draws very much on recent developments in Germany.
