Abstract

Abstract : The current professional development program in the Army is not preparing enough reserve component officers to be able to perform as strategic leaders in the year 2010 and beyond. This paper will review two sources of learning: formal military education and experience learned on the job. This paper will focus on experiences of officers at the rank of Major, Lieutenant Colonel and Colonel. The formal education evaluated is the United States Command and General Staff Officer Course and the United States Army War College.
