Abstract

Abstract The technology of underwater acoustic image measurement is a passive positioning technology with high precision in the near field. It can be used to measure the spatial distribution of radiation noise sources. The resolution of conventional underwater acoustic image measurement technology for the low frequency noise sources is poor. In order to improve the resolution, the STMV focused beamforming algorithm with high resolution was proposed in this paper. STMV beam-forming is a coherent subspace signal processing method, which is usually used in the high resolution processing field in the far field. In this paper, the weight of STMV beam-forming was revised so that it could be used in the underwater acoustic image measurement in the near field. The formulas of the weights and space spectrum are given through the theoretical deduction. The algorithm was validated by the related simulations and experiments. The results showed that the resolution of low frequency sources and the performance of underwater acoustic image measurement were improved in the method.
