Abstract
The poverty alleviation discourse system with Chinese characteristics is an important part of China’s foreign discourse system and studying the external communication of the Chinese poverty alleviation discourse system is not only in line with the general trend of the times and advancing with the times, but also an inevitable need to strengthen China’s international discourse power. Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics emphasizes the inter-mapping of language in use with the real world, cognitive subjects, and linguistic content. This essay combines its core principle of “reality-cognition-language” with the Chinese poverty alleviation discourse system, analyzes the characteristics of the external communication of China’s poverty alleviation discourse system, and examines the practical factors of English translation, the cognitive process of translators, the choice of English translation and its effects in a series of metaphors in the poverty alleviation discourse system with Chinese characteristics, hoping to provide new ideas for the external communication of Chinese poverty alleviation discourse system, in order to promote the construction of China's poverty alleviation foreign discourse system.
