Abstract

Much research on teaching and learning at the postsecondary level is rendered redundant by relatively inflexible adherence to the positivist paradigm. This paper elaborates the interpretive approach as a complementary perspective through which to view research, with illustrative studies from research on student ratings of courses and teachers and other topics.
