Abstract

Lightning protection is an important part of the overall design of large aircraft. It is of great significance to predict the lightning protection of civil aircraft and its fuel tank system in advance by using the numerical finite-difference time-domain simulation technology for aircraft lightning protection design. This paper mainly focuses on the safety simulation of large aircraft and its fuel tank lightning effect as follows: 1. The finite difference time-domain EMA3D software is used to establish the wing box section (component level) simulation model of a certain aircraft and the full aircraft level fuel tank system simulation model of a certain civil aircraft. The current density of the technical skin and the structural current and voltage of the fuel tank system are obtained through simulation calculation, The electromagnetic distribution of wing fuel tank structure under different paths is studied; 2. through the lightning effect test of the wing wing box system of a certain model aircraft and the indoor lightning effect test of the full aircraft level on-board fuel tank system, the lightning current conducted on the pipeline, the lightning current at the connection position of the structure/component, the voltage between the pipeline and the pipeline, and the structural components are obtained; 3. based on the results of comparison between simulation data and test data, verify the effectiveness of the fuel tank system structure simulation model Chengdu, predict the lightning environment of the fuel tank system, the most severe fuel tank lightning level under multiple lightning paths and positions, and select the most severe level values under various structural characteristics to support a civil aircraft to verify the compliance of CCAR25.981 (a) (3) and CCAR25.954 (b). The research shows that the simulation results obtained from the whole engine fuel tank system simulation model and wing box section flash current simulation model are in good agreement with the test data. Because the simulation and test reveal the lightning environment of the fuel tank system.
