Abstract
In order to achieve the optimal design of gear flowmeter, different kind of factors affecting stability and measurement accuracy of gear flowmeter are analysed and compared. Based on gear flowmeter of SAE product, the boundary conditions and dynamic mesh method are set after the simulation model is built and processed by Fluent. Due to the simulation results of the internal transient flow field, the problems of trapped-oil and outlet flow pulsation of gear flowmeter can be observation and researched. The simulation results of different radical clearances and different gear engagement clearances are compared and analysed, and the results show that the suitable clearances can reduce the internal leakage and improve measurement accuracy of gear flowmeter. Compared to normal symmetric gear tooth shape, asymmetric gear tooth shape in gear flowmeter can relieve trapped-oil problem and improve outlet stability of gear flowmeter. The conclusions can lay the foundation of improving the performance of gear flowmeter in the future.
