Abstract

In order to guarantee the geodesic distance of any two adjacent hair insertion points as equal as possible, a method of constructing offset curves on mesh surface of head model is proposed. The curve on the mesh surface is represented by geodesic B-spline, the concept of classical B-spline is extended to mesh surface, and a generation algorithm of geodesic B-spline curves with explicit mathematical representation is proposed. The longitudinal base curve is obtained by intersecting the triangular mesh surface with an implicit surface, and the longitudinal offset curve is constructed by using the method of vertex offset. The method of geodesic generation is used to obtain the transverse base curve and to construct the transverse offset curve, and these intersection points of offset curves are used to as insertion points. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively determine the location of insertion points and ensure these points equidistant, and could meet the requirements of actual operation.
