Abstract

This paper establishes a simulation platform of acoustic signal detection for ship target researches and passive sonar performance improvement. The acoustic signal is decomposed to ocean ambient noises and ship radiated noises, which consist of continuous and linear spectrum components. The acoustic signal is analyzed based on theory and measuring experiences, then modeled in MATLAB environment. The acoustic signal model is applicable for deferent ship working and ocean conditions, as well as other signal collection settings. The model describes signals in both time and frequency domains. Results show that this simple simulation platform provides the typical acoustic detection signals very well, so making way for passive sonar target detection researches.
