Abstract

NURSING AND PATIENT ADVOCACY have been viewed as an ideal fit. The unique aspects of patient advocacy for the perianesthesia nurse make it necessary to assess our understanding of this critical role. Two recent reports in the literature provide a sound platform to engage the discussion. The first is a concept analysis of barriers to nursing advocacy; the second is a qualitative research report on patient and nurse experiences of nursing advocacy.
