Abstract

From its foundation as the Office for Metropolitan Architecture in Rotterdam, Netherlands, OMA has expanded to have bases on four continents. What binds the practice together is a relentlessly intellectual approach that informs not only its buildings, but also its work in academia, publishing and exhibitions through its research and design studio AMO. Carol Patterson, a director for OMA in London, gives the lowdown on how it evolved and how some projects can serve as a research basis for others.
