Abstract
The ion source is the key to the NBI. It is very sensitive to overvoltage and overcurrent, and the breakdown frequently occurs between the acceleration grid. The core snubber is the most suitable surge suppression device to achieve DC fault protection. This paper introduces some basic concepts, comparing the core snubber’s material properties and important parameters. It also introduces the basic concept of an equivalent circuit model for snubber, including the derivation process and theoretical analysis. Then the characteristics of the snubber and surge suppression analysis are introduced. Finally, this paper looks forward to the future research direction of the snubber.
