Abstract

AbstractThe scarcity of the carrying capacity of resources and the environment is a rigid restriction for the sustainable development of special economic zones in China, and the efficiency of resource utilization is an important reference for measuring regional sustainable development. This report systematically collects and collates the input data of the material flow of the five special economic zones in China from 1996 to 2016 through the construction of a a framework for the analysis of material flow and resource efficiency at the regional and urban levels. It compares the indicators of the direct material input (DMI) of the five special economic zones in China horizontally and vertically, focuses on resource input and efficiency in five major economic zones in 2016, and points out the reasons for the differences in their efficiency. At the same time, the resource efficiency of the five special economic zones is combined with the concept of sustainable development. Based on these aspects, this paper provides policy suggestions on transforming the concept of traditional development, accelerating the construction of a green index system and vigorously developing green finance.
