Abstract

The Special Committee on Flood‐Waves is in its second year, having been established in June, 1937, by the Executive Committee of the Section of Hydrology as a culmination of earlier informational conferences of persons concerned with hydrologic investigations, particularly for the Federal Government. It was recognized that the data and analytical studies regarding various flood‐wave phenomena are exceedingly fragmentary. This Committee has served as a focal point for discussion of flood‐wave phenomena and the making and dissemination of available information. The work of the Committee has been carried on primarily through sub‐committees and special assignments to individual members and their colleagues in this particular field. The membership of the Special Committee on Flood‐Waves has remained the same from the time it was established and is as follows:Merrill Bernard, U.S. Weather Bureau, Washington, D.C.H. N.
