Abstract

The paper describes the background to the establishment of an ATM Task Force by RARE in 1993. The early work of the group is covered, and the relationship of this work to the proposed European ATM PNO pilot is described. The types of network services, applications and equipment used for ATM piloting are referred to. Information is given on the method of working of the Task Force and the level and nature of participation in its work. Future plans are outlined including the development of plans for a European overlay network to support ATM traffic between national ATM infrastructures.
