Abstract

In most related studies, the treatment outcome analyses for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in male patients have been performed on the basis of total symptom score changes using the International Prostate Symptoms Score (I-PSS). However, as the editor commented, it seems that one can reliably assume that the benefit of treatment in these patients largely depends on achieving relief of the most bothersome symptom (core symptom), and not a total symptom score, as patients often consult their physician regarding only 1 or 2 major symptoms.
