Abstract

This study largely replicates the findings of a previous study reported by the authors (Platten and Williams, 1979). If researchers wish to derive succinct meaning from significant test-retest changes in self concept in any of the initial or revised subscales of the Piers-Harris Children's Self Concept Scale, they would do well to factor analyze their own data as well as identify and reflect on the factor or factors that account for a major share of the total score variance. Further research involving the physical dimension as a possible facet of general self-concept is suggested.
