Abstract

A geometrical issue is found to cause the flow in a non-linear sigma model by the dimensional reduction of a larger gauge symmetry. The residual symmetries act on the space of arbitrary renormalization group motion operators. The flow is defined by the stability of the gauge fixing under residual symmetries.
