Abstract

The roots of the various religious views towards same‐gender relations and homophobia are discussed. Religious attitudes are themselves informed by the cultural and societal mores in which those religions exist. Religious views on homophobia have also been heavily influenced by colonialism and racism, and the interactions among these factors are both more numerous and complex than this section can fully explore. Some of these issues are explored more fully in other entries.
