Abstract
The built environment in long-term care facilities impacts the residents’ quality of life (QOL) and ability to engage in their activities of daily living. The Australian Environmental Assessment Tool-Higher Care aims to support QOL for residents with advanced physical and mental impairments. The Japanese version (J-EAT) has been culturally validated and confirmed as an appropriate tool for Japan’s small-scale living facilities to support the residents’ QOL. This study aims to test the reliability of the J-EAT, assess J-EAT application in small-scale nursing homes in Japan, and explore further cultural modifications based on facility personnel’s feedback.
