Abstract

This paper reviews issues relevant to evaluating the stability of a transport network, based on determining the reliability of urban public transport routes, as exemplified by various cities in the Russian Federation. One of the main goals was the examination of urban passenger transport system stability indices that had not been applied in the Russian practice. These indices are unique in that the initial information may be gained automatically, on the basis of the modern vehicle stock equipment (GLONASS/GPS). Through practical application, we have obtained the range of values for the time and buffer indices on the basis of route networks’ data of two different cities in the Russian Federation.
