Abstract

Purpose: Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer among adolescents and young adults (AYA), thereby occurring at a critical period of socio-emotional and psychosexual development. Little is known regarding the specific experiences of AYA testicular cancer survivors given that existing research has largely grouped this cohort of survivors with older survivors that are well into survivorship. The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine how AYA testicular cancer survivors conceptualize the impact the cancer on key aspects of adolescence and young adulthood, namely romantic relationships, sexuality, and fertility.
