Abstract
Thiopurine methyltransferase(TPMT)is a key enzyme involved in the metabolism of azathioprine(AZA).There is a close association between the TPMT polymorphism and AZA-related adverse drug reactions. To fully recognize the role of TPMT in the metabolism of AZA as well as the relationship between TPMT polymorphism and AZA-related adverse drug reactions, and to assess the activity and genotypes of TPMT prior to prescribing, may offer a basis for individualized and safe medication. Key words: Azathioprine; 6-Mercaptopurine; Adverse drug reaction
