Abstract
Measurements of 110 quartzite pebbles from two layers in the Olean Conglomerate to determine the relationships of variation in axial dimensions, logarithm of the volume, and bulk density show that, given constant composition and density, it is possible to define particles formed in different environments through precise measurements of variation in volume (size and shape).
