Abstract

Background and Aims: Hypertensive patients are predisposed to target organ lesions, such as cardiac hypertrophy and atherosclerosis, but the mechanisms involved in these processes are not fully understood. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) regulate gene expression and have been implicated in the development of cardiac hypertrophy and atherosclerosis. This study was to evaluate serum miRNAs expression and correlate these data with left ventricular mass (LVM) and carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) in hypertensive patients.
