Abstract
Introduction The aim of this study was to examine the links between the goal orientation and the burnout. Participants were 248 boys’ players and 213 girls’ players aged 15,68 years. Synthesis of the facts The results showed that the ego and task oriented adolescents are more self-determined, are less anxious, more self-confidence, and perceive a more important achievement in comparison to other groups of athletes. Conclusion A high level athlete oriented at the same time on ego and task goals has more favourable psychological characteristics that can reduce the risk of burnout.
