Abstract
This paper presents the results of investigations carried out to correlate magnetic properties and grain alignment in some as-sintered and heat treated Pr–Fe–B magnets. Sintered magnets based on the composition Pr 16Fe 76B 8 were prepared using the hydrogen decrepitation process. Magnetic behaviour ( B r and i H c) was studied as a function of degree of grain alignment ( 〈 cos θ〉 ). The volume fraction ( f) of the matrix phase Φ (Pr 2Fe 14B grains) in the permanent magnets was also estimated and correlated with intrinsic coercivity.
