Abstract

Until recently, little was known about the regulation of toxin production in Clostridium perfringens. Three regulatory genes that control the production of θ toxin (perfringolysin O) have now been identified. Two of these genes make up a two-component sensor-kinase-response-regulator system that also controls the production of other extracellular toxins.
