Abstract

In the distribution network system an increase in the penetration level of Renewable Energy Generators (REGs) have put a large impact on these distribution systems. This may result into power quality (PQ) issues that have been occurred on the distribution networks with the association of utility grids and hybrid REG systems. Moreover, the severity is based on the penetration level, applied on REG system and the installation geography. This paper deals with study of REGs which involves the sources like wind turbine, fuel cells and photovoltaic system. This study also gives brief description about the critically developed PQ issues in the distribution network of bidirectional power flow system such as harmonic distortions, fluctuations in voltages, frequency fluctuations and reduction in efficiency of distribution system. The main aim of this paper is to find the best approach to minimize the power losses in the bidirectional power flow network with reduced THD (Total Harmonic Distortions) levels.
