MR. MANN'S book contains an account of the three months' experimental course on optics pursued by the senior students at the University of Chicago. The name Chicago, uttered on this side of the Atlantic, suggests many different things to different persons; to physicists it cannot but bring to mind the name of Prof. Michelson, to whom we are indebted for some of the most valuable and ingenious optical investigations that the last century brought forth. An experimental course, developed according to the ideas of Prof. Michelson, could scarcely be other than original and stimulating; the course before us, in addition, is systematically developed, the descriptions are clear and concise, and the illustrations, though few, are well calculated to serve the purpose for which they were intended. Each chapter commences with a brief theoretical investigation, wherein the aim is to concentrate attention on the physical, as distinguished from the purely mathematical, aspect of the subject; following this is a description of the experiments, and the manipulation of the necessary apparatus. Room is left for the student to develop a certain amount of originality in his methods, and thus avoid reduction to the state of a mere mechanical copyist. Numerous references are given to original memoirs, which should prove very useful to advanced students. Besides the experiments usually found in books on optics, descriptions are given of the method of determining the j*e-solving power of telescopes, spectroscopes, and gratings. It is interesting to find Prof. Michelson's classic researches on the resolution of spectral lines by means of the interferometer included in a course for students. In fine, no one on glancing through this book would hesitate to endorse the concluding words of Prof. Michelson's introductory note:— Manual of Advanced Optics. By C. Digital logic circuit is a basic compulsory course for information majors. It is also the first hardware theory course for students to contact, which lays the foundation for the follow-up professional courses. The course of digital logic circuit itself has the characteristics of theory and practice. It is especially important to transform the theory into practice. The digital logic circuit experiment class can help students understand theoretical knowledge. It is a bridge to transform theory into practice. Scientific mode and reasonable experimental content can promote students’ understanding and application of theoretical knowledge. Therefore, the digital logic circuit experiment course is a very Effective practical teaching methods. The experimental course of digital logic circuit of Tsinghua University adopts the experimental mode of mixing the basic simple digital integrated circuit and programmable logic device.[1] This mode can not only enhance students’ understanding of theoretical knowledge, but also improve the ability of students to debug hardware. After two years of feedback on experimental teaching results, the experimental form using mixed mode has been recognized by most students.

Universities and colleges have developed many new courses concerned with race relations. Objectives of these courses have been far-reaching and it has been particularly difficult to evaluate their effectiveness. Out-comes are often not clearly described. This study examined student experiences with minority groups before, during, and after taking an experimental course in race relations. We observed differences in the experiences with minority groups of open-minded, moderate, and closed-minded students who took the course, and differences in the experiences with minority groups of students who were more or less satisfied with the course. The sample was made up of 69 percent (N = 66) of the students who completed the course. Students said they had first heard of more of the well known minority individuals and had had more interpersonal relations with members of minority groups before taking the course. Most had visited or heard of more of the community agencies and councils while taking the course. At the conclusion of the course, a large number still had not read most of the books, magazines, and newspapers. Open-minded students had had more experiences with minority groups than had moderates before taking the course. The degree to which students were open or closed minded was also related to their number of non-experiences with both minority group people and minority literature at the conclusion of the course. Surprisingly, closed minded students were more satisfied with the course. More satisfied students read less about minority groups after the course was completed. Finally, the results indicated no significant differences in the experiences before, during, and after the course of students who were more and less satisfied with the course.

The paper presents the theoretical assumptions and the way of conducting an experimental course on the Phenomenology of Space designed for architects and interior designers. The course made use of virtual reality to allow students to directly experience the perceptive and cognitive effects induced by the forms of space, colour, the texture of materials, and light. Virtual reality was also the medium that made it possible to translate certain philosophical concepts related to the phenomenology of space into an experiential and applicative field close to the sensitivity and spatial culture of the designers. The themes addressed gave rise to a progressive development that allowed students to develop an increasingly complex project and experiment with increasingly complex issues. The course began with the phenomenology of thresholds, and continued with the analysis of field and synesthesia, the phenomenology of atmospheres, and the analysis of orientation and mind maps. In each of these areas of research and experimentation, the common thread remained the relationship between the body and space. The article also presents the exercises proposed to the students and an overall assessment of the teaching experience.

Recently, the rapid development in the field of optoelectronics attracts widespread concern of all countries. However, the lack of training for the student experiment beginning ability and the neglect of the traditional experiment course for students' subjective initiative promote the establishment of open-experimental course of “optoelectronic materials and devices” which is used for the adaptation of the course of “The basis of photoelectron technology”. Students design experimental scheme by themselves to realize the preparation of optoelectronic films - the performance test of films - the fabrication of optoelectronic devices - the performance test of devices, these four stages of experiment. Students should submit the experiment report and devices.
