Abstract

In this paper, a method of solving rank-4 eigen-equations of a rigorous electromagnetic theory is presented as a straightforward way to analyze the optical reflection and transmission characteristics on the surface of the dielectric and magnetic anisotropic medias with arbitrary orientation of principle optical axis, and it found that its solving process is simplifier than those previous methods. Our work has obtained some useful conclusions, such as the characters of the reflection and transmission on the surface of dielectric and magnetic anisotropic media, the requirement of linear polarization for reflection and transmission, the requirement of changing un-polarized incident light into linearly polarized transmitted light with the efficiency larger than 50 % and so on.
