Abstract

A 66-year-old man underwent colonoscopy for evaluation of bloody stools. Although dark red slightly elevated vessels as internal hemorrhoids were vaguely observed on the anus ring by white light imaging using a GIF-H290T gastroscope with EVIS X1 video system (Olympus), the contrast between the vessels and the mucosa was not clear (Figure A). Conversely, we were able to clearly distinguish them by red dichromatic imaging (RDI), and a confirmed diagnosis of hemorrhoidal plexus and Goligher's class I internal hemorrhoids (Figure B) was made.
