Bonanno, Professor of Psychology and Director of the Loss, Trauma and Emotional Laboratory at Teachers College, Columbia University, explains why two humans may respond differently to the same traumatic event.1 He points out that the progression of a person’s expected level of stress from an injury into a stress disorder is significantly influenced by the individual’s behavioral response to the specific injury.
