The first 75 patients so treated are reported. There were 65 men and 10 women with ages ranging from 30 to 72 years. All experienced exertional angina, 50% with rest or nocturnal angina. All were under medical coronary programs with incomplete control of symptoms. Duration of symptoms ranged from 3 months to 6 years. One third had ECG evidence of a prior myocardial infarction.
