Abstract

The preparation and infrared studies of the following compounds: Fe(CO) 5− n L n [L = P(C 2H 5) 3 ( n = 1, 2- trans, 3); (C 6H 5) 2P(CH 2) 2P(C 6H 5) 2 ( n = 1, 2- cis); P(C 6H 5) 3 ( n = 1, 2- trans); P(OCH 3) 3) ( n = 1, 2- trans, 3); C 2H 5NC ( n = 1, 2- trans)], as well as Fe(CO) 2LC 7H 8 and Fe(CO) 2LC 4H 6 [L = P(C 2H 5) 3, P(C 6H 5) 3 et P(OCH 3) 3, and of the mixed compounds Fe(CO) 2L x L′ 3t− x [ x = 1, 2; L = P(C 2H 5) 3, L′ = P(OCH 3) 3] are described. The assignments of the CO stretching vibration frequencies of iron carbonyl and of its derivatives are presented. The intensity and CO halfband width measurements allow to distinguish between the axial and equatorial CO bonds, and to determine the configuration of some of these derivatives. The correlation diagram of the substituted compounds Fe(CO) 5- n L n ( n = 0, 1, 2, 3) is presented and discussed.
