Abstract
We have newly dcveloped a receptacle transceiver module for single fiber. bi-directional optical access nehvork systems. Outline dimensions and pin assignment of the receptacle transceiver module are according to 2x5 small fonn factor (SFF) multi-source agreement (MSA) specifcation. A new compact-size optical module using silica waveguide (PLC: Planar Lightwavc Circuit) has been developed. All the optical components_ which are the LD_ the PD, the WDM filter and the fiber terminal, are mounted on the PLC chip using passive alignment techniques and covcred with resin for sealing. We have confirmed that thc transceiver module shows clear eyc pattem undcr 156Mbls modulation and minimum receiver sensitivity of less than -34dBm undcr the full duplex operation at I56Mbls.
